BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
In this module we will be exposed to a more extensive study of building construction by exploring the latest and more advanced technology and practice of the industry. The topics covered in this module are industrialized building system (IBS), modular coordination, high-rise building, façade system, steel construction, building information modeling (BIM) and UBBL. In addition, it is also intended to expose us to the study of construction through case studies of existing buildings and applying the construction methods and systems of the building into our own design.
INDUSTRIALISED BUILDING SYSTEMS
In a group of 5, we were required to design a 3-storey apartment block using mainly IBS components. After that, we were to construct a physical sectional model of the building to show the IBS components in detail. All analysis is to be recorded in an A3 report and to be submitted together with the detailed model. My group was given to analysed and design an apartment using structural steel framing system.

CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS
This assignment is aligned with the Studio Design Project (semester 4 and 5) and aims to facilitate students in the technical studies and development of their design. It deals with the analysis and establishment of the structural and the envelope systems of the student’s design to ensure that the design has logical and workable construction systems.

Task 1 was to conduct some precedent studies of recent, complex or unique construction systems that could be applied in the design. As for the next task, we were to produce two alternatives of façade design schemes for the current studio design project. Each scheme should include only the front and the rear façades (in scale 1:100). The final outcome is a compilation of the research and design proposals in an A3 report.
