BUILDING MATERIALS

  This module introduces intends to inform the student of the relevant visual and physical properties of a wide range of building materials. The module also describes the manufacturing process, salient properties and typical uses of these materials with the aim of ensuring their appropriate applications within the awareness of their suitability of their physical and chemical properties as well as its ecological impact.

PROJECT 1

In a group of 2-3, we are to conduct a case study based on the building selected of the chosen respective architect. We are to provide information 

such as the the types of materials used in the building design, their characteristics, suitability as well as their expressions towards the building design.

PROJECT 2

In a group of 6, we are to select an exciting commercial building that can give us experience in exploring most of the building materials covered in the module. This assignment was divided into two tasks; group and individual. 

​

For the group work, we were to produce three presentation boards; mood board, identification of materials and application of materials. As for the individual, one presentaion board to explain more about the form, space and pattern of the selected area in the building.

Throughout all the assignments I've done for this module, I have learnt more about the various types of building materials as well as the uses of each of the materials in the construction industry. I have also learnt about the properties of these materials and to analyze the pros and cons associated by these materials.
