BUILDING CONSTRUCTIONS 2

This subject aims to introduce structures as architecture by developing an understanding of the structural systems in construction technology in a unique way in relation to historical and innovative buildings. Skeletal, solid and surface construction systems are discussed and analyzed in terms of load and forces in a general term.
PROJECT 1
For our first project, we were to form in a group of five to six to construct a temporary bus shelter. Here, we were tested on the ability to apply the knowledge of the skeletal construction and its joints to actual construction and design as well as the ability of the shelter constructed to take the load applied in the specified duration.

PROJECT 2
For our second and final project, we were to form in a group of three. We are then to propose a building (tensile/membrane construction or grid shell construction) and identify the structural systems used in the construction of the building of our choice. We are also to produce a model on an A3 base showing the structural systems used in the above building.

As for my group, we have decided to study on the construction of grid shell structure. Therefore, we have chosen Savill Building as our case study. Below are my group's works.
